BACK PORCH CONVERSATIONS

- TRUTH & MIRRORS -

Have you ever read something that seemed simple at first… until it refused to leave you alone?

That’s what God’s been doing in me lately.

Not handing me answers.

Handing me mirrors.

Chasing Rabbits

I’ve always been the kind of person who pulls things apart.

I ask why.

I chase rabbit trails.

I notice patterns other people seem to walk right past.

Sometimes it’s a gift.

Sometimes it’s exhausting.

But I’m starting to realize…

Maybe that’s exactly how I was made to engage with truth.

It's Now What You Think.

It’s a Conversation.

I’m not here to teach.

I’m not here to preach.

And I’m definitely not here to pretend I’ve got life figured out.

I’m here to think out loud.

To wrestle.

To notice.

To ask questions.

To sit with Him long enough that I start to hear questions asked back to me.

“Word isn’t just something we read.

It’s something that reads us.”

That realization changed the way I approach the Bible.

It’s easy to highlight a verse.

It’s much harder to let that verse highlight something in me.

The Mirror

I’ve never been afraid to tell my story.

There are chapters filled with joy.

There are chapters marked by deep hurt.

And there are chapters I’d rather skip altogether.

But every one of those chapters has become a place where God has met me.

Sometimes with comfort.

Sometimes with conviction.

Often with both.

The Questions That Won’t Leave Me Alone

I keep wondering…

How many of us hope truth changes someone else before we let it change us?

How often do we pray for different circumstances while quietly avoiding the reflection staring back at us?

When was the last time we evaluated ourselves with the same energy we evaluate everyone around us?

Those questions aren’t aimed at you.

They’re aimed at me.

You’re simply invited to sit beside me while I wrestle with them.

And maybe just maybe you can relate.

What I Hope This Becomes

I hope this becomes a place where we’re honest.

Not perfect.

Honest.

A place where we’re allowed to say…

“I don’t know.”

Without feeling like we’ve failed.

Because sometimes faith isn’t finding all the answers.

Sometimes it’s simply refusing to stop asking better questions.

An Invitation

If you decide to keep reading these…

Don’t just read my words.

Read yourself.

Pay attention to what stirs something inside of you.

Pay attention to the questions you want to avoid.

Pay attention to the places where Scripture makes you uncomfortable.

Those places are often where growth begins.

“We’ve ALL been here…

We just don’t always say it out loud.”

Before You Go...

What's one question this stirred up in you?

You don't have to answer me.

Just don't ignore it.
